Aoki Masaru is one of the main characters in the anime Hajime No Ippo and the series New Challenger. Aoki Masaru is a boxer for the Kamogawa Boxing Gym. Although his skills aren’t  the best in the series he does try hard and strives to one day make it to the top.

Aoki is the only character in the series who has a stable girlfriend, Tomiko. Aoki has a different taste in women then most of the guys in the series. Hurt during his entire life by beautifull women Aoki likes women with great bodies and not so great faces.

At the gym hes usually the butt of the jokes. Takamura has absolutely no problem telling him how awful of a fighter he is. The only one of his finishing moves is a spring board like jumping punch where he crouches down and springs into the air hopefully hitting the opponents chin. Ever since then hes had a nickname of the Frog.

As a person Aoki Masaru is a very friendly person. Often trying to help his fellow boxers in the gym via sparring or training he genuinely is a nice guy. He’s also tried to help Ippo Makunouchi get a little closer to his girlfriend Kumi Mashiba by inviting them both on a vacation to the beach.
